Beta is out NOW! (Plus Update on Upcoming Game)
Hello all... it's been a bit but delayed with purpose (kind of).
The game now has 5 completed levels where you can beat challenge scores to unlock 'tree stars' and when all five have been acquired you can play the bonus level "Fight." Which was tricky when I had to fix various bugs on top of the new mechanics. But most of the bugs are fixed and the gameplay loop is solid; albeit clunky in spots.
It has been a tough labor do all this on my own, the music in the levels are royalty free assets on Unity. Other than that everything else was made by me, with care. Beta is a great time to share your feedback on the game so I can rework to make as satisfying for the final release.
That said I will now take a 5-9 month break on HardKnocks to finish Smergle Cratz, a game I started making about 4 years ago in New Zealand. Which was originally a card game but now is an "Online Physical Custom Collectible Role-playing Card Game." meaning you make the cards out of cardstock paper and play with them in person against other players. But the games are tracked and managed by programs in a video game. It's a little confusing but two Gamemodes are already completed, in a word document that explains the whole game. So it is very much playable already.
Yet I felt with all the terms and weird game mechanics, I needed the videogame medium to really make this card game user friendly. Plus added bonus, to my knowledge; no one has made a videogame to be an accessory to a physical card game. Only the other way around with buyable add-ons like Skylandsers or the weird Ubisoft nft stuff. Mine is totally free, all that's needed are some paper and crafting supplies, then the Smergle Cratz Simulator walks you through the process of playing, while computing data.
